What makes You Happy? Happy is … what Happy does When was the last time you had a deep belly laugh? What are some activities that you really enjoy? How well do you know yourself? Happiness has no requirements of its own. If you are to put requirements on your happiness, you are limiting your happiness. I will be happy when … I get a job, get married (again), lose some weight, pay off my loan. Happiness doesn’t need any of that. None. Zippo. Nada. You are an eternal Soul having a human experience. Your ego can’t break that. No matter what. You are safe. The Truth of you is untouchable by human intentions. We all have an inner child. We all have a desire to have some fun. OK, perhaps we buried that desire to have some fun. Perhaps a metaphorical storm came through our life a while back,…

From the Dark, into the Light Reclaiming Your Consciousness When we think of our spiritual journey (back) to enlightenment, it is actually a return to wholeness. Where we connect with energetic elements of energy within our subconscious, feel it, and thus release it. But often, this is the last thing we want to do, at an ego level. Our ego oftentimes prefers to avoid the difficult feelings within ourself. That avoidance tends to promote the accumulation of even more karma into our subconscious. Thus pushing us deeper into the shadow side of being human. We lose our consciousness when we posture or divide ourself. It isn’t that we actually lose our consciousness, per se, but rather, we separate it by pushing it into our subconscious. Thus creating, or adding to, our shadow. In other words, whenever we avoid a feeling, by posturing with it, we are creating karma. If you…

Paint the Picture You Desire As You Wish There is a momentum of sorts. Living this human experience. We are all having a “normal” experience. Today might seem very familiar. Perhaps just like yesterday. It is at least normal to us. Yet, your normal day and my normal day can be completely different. We are all having our own unique experience(s) of life. Sure, there is a common set of experiences. Laughter is an example of similar experiences. Yet, the Guru and the Maniac live in the “same” world. What are your experiences of your life? Are there repetitive experiences that you don’t like? Perhaps you butt heads with someone at work. Or perhaps you and your spouse spar it out often. Arguing over this or that. Something you might not prefer. Or there is the notion of avoidance. You avoid the butthead at work or avoid arguments with your…

Moving through Your Karma Karma, like gravity, is impersonal Karma is a curious thing. If we were to try to pin down just what karma is, we might take a look at the mind/ego, and its relationship with emotions. Certainly this is not the totality of how we experience karma, but I would say this is the lion’s share. So many people go through their life and never consider what they are doing, karmically. We can take on habits, often at a very early age, that sets us up for accumulating more and more karma as we go through our life. Patterns that we often pick up from our parents. For myself, I had a very strong habit of avoiding the emotion of anger. So I would subconsciously avoid it at all cost. I believe my health would be considerably worse had I not connected with my subconscious anger, and…

God will not fix your problems Not without You God is so very powerful. Right? And God has unconditional Love for us. Yet we can pray for God to help us and it seems like nothing is really happening. How many times, as a child, did you pray to God for that bicycle for your birthday? Only to not get it. Do you think, as a child, you lost faith in God? Did you think, as a child, that God really didn’t love you? Do you think, as you were growing up, that you ever got angry at God? Come on God, I have prayed and prayed, and you just don’t listen. Would you take a child out of kindergarten and give them a Ph.D? Would you take a pre-med student and have them perform brain surgery? It is the journey, and the things we learn along the way, that…

Don’t let your ego make you go Numb We are creatures of habit So, if I asked you, how similar was today compared to yesterday? Excluding one-time events, such as, “I got married yesterday,” how similar is one day to the next day? If you think of yourself as being on a spiritual journey, then “motion” would help you “arrive.” We can come to comfort zones, and then we park it there. Many of us don’t just park it there, we homestead there. It can be just what we need. Comfort, that is. Not to sound contradictory, but comfort can be just the thing to help us recover when we have gone through the ringer. It can take some time to recover. To bring ourselves around, so to speak. As I have shared before, I went through some very tough emotional pain late last year. And it took me several…

The Ever-Evolving You! Without End You are never stuck. Well, unless you think you are. And even then, you can always re-decide. We are souls well-established on our journeys. We have loaded up our psyches with karma from our past. And this karma creates a momentum of sorts. A consistency of sorts in our everyday experiences. A lot of this momentum is found in our subconscious. You can imagine a huge supertanker out in the ocean. Laden with cargo. Riding low in the water. The top speed is quite slow. If this immense amount of mass wanted to just turn around, it might take an hour. And a mile of space in which to do it. Loaded up. Lots of inertia. The last moment similar to this moment. In a lot of ways, this metaphor is similar to ourselves. At least collectively. We have loaded up our psyches with karma.…

Your Happiness and Your Sorrow It is all up to You Your mind is the beginning, and the end, of your happiness and your sorrow. It is a most curious thing. Our mind/ego is the decider. Well … kind of. How many people have created a vision board, and religiously chanted their daily affirmations, only to find that years later … nothing (of significance) has changed? If those things, affirmations and vision boards, are the creation and intent of the mind/ego, how can I say that the mind/ego is the decider? We take on karma when we posture with what is. That posturing is initiated by the mind/ego. At least, most of the time. There are times when the mind/ego doesn’t get to decide. For example, a young soldier going into battle for the first time. The shock and horror of carnage can trigger the body to protect itself. It…

Connecting with your Higher Self Your Ego doesn’t know it all How is your life going? So far so good? Perfect. Wait, what? What if you answered that your life was not so good? Perhaps you feel like you have been through the proverbial ringer. Enough! Life has a way about it. The sage and the psychopath are both swimming in the same “sea.” The same world. So what gives? Nobody has the same karma as you do. Not the exact same karma. Your life path(s), through this lifetime and all the lifetimes before this one, has created … well … you. The more I have studied this human experience, I have found that we have several core factors that contribute a lot to how we see ourselves. The ego, our emotions, and our Higher Self or Soul. The first two, our ego and our emotions, are where most of…

How Dare You? Who do you think you are? Somebody is getting too big for their britches. You do not realize just how bad what you are doing is. Come on. Stop it now. We all know what you are doing is wrong. So once again, tell me why you keep doing it. Your Soul can dream in unimaginable realms. Are you going to be available, to walk in step with your soul, as the big dreams fulfill? Or is the first barking dog going to shut you down? You have a savior. Well, several excellent saviors. The wisdom is available. Follow Jesus. Follow Buddha. Follow whomever you wish, or follow your own heart and soul. That’s the one I’m down for. That’s the wake I suggest. So, take a bold test. What is the biggest dream you can imagine for yourself? Now double it. And again. Repeat. That is…

Life in the Fast Brain What is the role of the ego? There are many, many spiritual gurus that think the ego is to be reduced or shrunk to be as small as possible. Some even use the term to kill the ego. But something doesn’t add up with that stance. Sure, indeed, the ego can be the source of so much suffering. The ego can be a significant contributor to our karmic dysfunction. The undisciplined ego is indeed something we would want to heal and teach, if we are wanting to fulfill our true Divine potentials. But riddle me this. If indeed the ego “runs” on the framework of our mind, and we are only using 10% of our mind, then as we activate more and more of our mind, or mental horsepower, then the “engine” our ego is running on becomes much more powerful. Based on the idea…
