Rewind Your Past
You are never stuck
How do you feel about your past? Are there parts of your past you would like to erase? Or perhaps there are parts of your past that you would want to return to?
How do you feel about who you have been over the years? Are you proud of what you have done? Or, perhaps, are you feeling shame, guilt, regret, sorrow or pain about your past?
Blink your eyes.
Do you know that all of your past is, metaphorically, on the “other side” of that blink? Your past is no longer deciding your future, unless you are still holding onto it. In other words, all of your past is behind you. You are (always) in fresh territory. Like a blank sheet of paper, or unexposed film. You are creating anew, in this and every moment. Every new moment exists outside of your past. Fresh and new by itself.
The universe itself doesn’t keep score. The universe is not holding any kind of posture with you. Although you do have elements of your past that are karmically imprinted on your psyche, that karma itself has no preference or stipulation on how you experience it. Karma doesn’t have any skin in the game. Karma doesn’t decide how you experience it. You can change or shift how you are experiencing your karma today.
You can have substantial mental end emotional karmic stigmas imprinted on your psyche from your past. But again, how you experience your karma is left up to you. The events that demonstrated this to me, from my own past, have shown me that I am never bound to a particular way.
In my case, the emotion of anger was very prominent from my past. Before I healed my relationship with my anger, my anger was totally dominating my life. Karma from my past, as an unresolved emotion, had me metaphorically pinned to the ground. It wasn’t from the emotion(s) themselves. My unresolved anger didn’t force me into anything. It can seem counterintuitive. My anger was dominating my life. But the anger itself wasn’t doing anything itself, in that the anger itself didn’t have an agenda, motive or goal with me. It was my habitual patterning with the anger that made it such a very strong influence in my day-to-day life. I could have broken its grip on me very early in my life. My anger didn’t let go, because it didn’t have a grip on me, not directly at least. It was my mind’s memory of the anger that had seized my psyche.
I live today with a healthy understanding of anger. It isn’t like I will never get angry again. Sure I will. The emotion of anger is there for a reason and purpose. It is a useful messenger for me. If I feel anger come up in my psyche, it is telling me something is off. My anger itself was never broken. Even when it was wreaking havoc in my life. How I responded to it is what bound me to it. The feeling of anger hasn’t changed for me. It is my relationship to that feeling that has changed. I healed my relationship to the feeling.
When we “rewind our past” we can take the same mentality to every part of our past. We can re-decide how we “hold” our past. What our past means to us. If there is an emotional charge to some events in our past, we can change and heal our relationship to those emotional feelings. Remember, the feelings themselves have no motive or agenda with us. We bring the memories and postures that we have held regarding the feelings of our past, shifting the metaphorical hold our past may be having with us. Set yourself free of any metaphorical bondage from your past. Healing your past will sharpen your ability to traverse your future without taking on any karmic stigmas. Set yourself free.
Love You
