You Decide It All

You are the sole creator of your experience

OK. So no. You, yourself, can’t put another three or four suns in the sky. OK, so no, you can’t add another dozen planets to the solar system. So no, you don’t decide it all. Not from the collective perspective.

But, absolutely, you do decide it all when it comes to how you experience your “reality.”

Gravity is impersonal. The mechanics of karma are impersonal. The mechanics of emotions are impersonal. The cycle of day and night are impersonal. Time is impersonal, etc.

You, it is you, that decides how you experience these things. There is no built-in experience of “reality.” If there were, we would all experience everything the exact same way. It is truly a blessing that we decide it all.

Earlier this year I spent seven weeks in the hospital. Five surgeries. Extreme pain for hours. Mind-numbing endurance. Was I a victim of this? Not at all. I could easily use it as an excuse as well. I don’t need excuses. I see it as a gift. A huge gift, really. I decide how I “categorize” or “label” the experience. I decide that. That is completely my call. When I look at how it changed me, I am grateful for it. Not that I would seek it out. I didn’t consciously choose to do it. But at some level, I did create it. I would say that the hospital stay accelerated my spiritual growth. By about a decade or more.

If you take the perspective of your soul, and let go of holding on to your sense of self, this lifetime is just a chapter in a much bigger metaphorical book. You have had many lifetimes. Your soul chose this lifetime for you to live out. Chose your parents. Chose your life purpose.

Our egos can feel like the world is happening to us. That somehow we are powerless to have any say in it. That is not true.

We create a karmic momentum of sorts. Over time, and even lifetimes, we accumulate karma. Karma, by its very nature, creates a “history” of our past. Energetically, you could think of your karma as the unresolved energy stored in your Akashic records. We load up our psyches with all manner of karmic stigmas. The mental and emotional karmic stigmas are perhaps the most pronounced karmic influencers of ourselves. Until they are not.

I know I keep referring to the anger in my past, and I get that it might seem repetitive to you. But that mechanism, that karmic posturing I had with anger, is a classic example of the mechanism of karma itself. It showed me how I was posturing with my own karma. Until I did something about it. Until I learned a new relationship with anger. I was subconsciously deciding to posture with it for decades. I didn’t consciously make that decision to posture with it. But the mechanics of karma implanted that anger in my subconscious. The impersonal mechanics of karma set me up to learn about the impersonal mechanics of emotions. None of that experience was rigid, fixed or cast in concrete. I could have decided, at any time, to change my relationship with my most prominent karmic stigmas.

Your experience(s) of your life are 100% programmable. You get to decide how you experience everything in your life. There is nothing fixed or unchangeable about yourself. You are the creator of your “reality.” You are never stuck. If you feel stuck, then, perhaps, you are preferring to posture with your karma rather than transmute your karma. I certainly spent decades, really, posturing with something that I could have resolved or transmuted years ago. The mechanism of my karma didn’t change. I learned about the mechanisms of karma and I changed my relationship with my karma.

To “work” on yourself is perhaps the most powerful and empowering thing you can do. To heal your relationship with your most pronounced karmic tendencies can bring about the biggest changes in how you are experiencing your life today.

Love You!
