Risk is too … Risky
Better play it safe
Do you trust yourself?
How do you know if you trust yourself if you are taking every precaution to ensure your protection. To be clear, I am not bashing watching out for yourself. But that doesn’t get you off the hook, as to the question … Do you really trust yourself?
I find it curious that over the decades I have taken such questions, on my own, and put them to the test. There were several years that I looked at the notion of trust. True trust even when the environment would suggest a more cautious approach. For many years, I had one question … Am I safe? No other information but a yes or no.
I was driving my vintage car down the highway late at night, with my kids in the car. All of a sudden the steering wheel became much looser. Where when I moved the wheel, nothing would happen until I moved it far enough. So, everything was a bit more challenging. I asked … Am I safe? Yes. So, I continued to drive home. We arrived without issue. The next morning I sat in the car, and turned the wheel back and forth to see how it felt. It suddenly popped free and spun like a pinwheel. Had that happened the night before I would have lost all control of the car’s steering.
I was driving the same vintage car down the highway, this time by myself, when I got a strong sensation something was wrong with the car. Again … Am I safe? Yes. So I finished driving to my location. The next time I got in the car and tried to start it, it caught on fire.
I was home late at night and suddenly there was someone pounding on the front door. The door didn’t have a peephole or camera. All I knew was that someone was pounding on the door. My roommate was like … Do not open that door. Oh, hell no. And you guessed it … Am I safe? Yes. So I opened the door and it was a man selling door-to-door.
I was camping in the high country of Colorado. This is where the big wildlife live. Bears, mountain lions, moose, elk and the like. It was a moonless night. Pitch black. I heard the sound of branches breaking. Some large animal was walking by our camp in the pitch darkness. I went to the edge of camp and asked … Am I safe? Yes. So I walked into the darkness toward the sounds.
There were many such situations over the years where I built my trust for my inner knowing. There is always a part of us that knows. Have we connected with that knowingness? Do we trust it?
I am sure some people will think I am irresponsible. I get that. But you truly don’t know trust until that is the only thing you bank your decisions on.
Do you really trust yourself?
Live your life as you so choose.

Love You
