This Is Consciousness!, with Regina Leffers, Ph.D.

Listen in now as our guest, Regina Leffers, Ph.D., discusses her latest book, This Is Consciousness!, written in response to the situation in which we currently find ourselves. People are not speaking civilly to each other at every level of society. Nothing works well when we can’t sit down and talk through problems to find solutions. That problem might be rectified if people were able to understand their own consciousness and how it functions. This information is basic to being human. We carry a toolbox around with us inside of our own heads and hearts, and not only do we not know how to use the tools, too many of us don’t even know the tools exist. We think that the thoughts we have are simply true. What we need to understand is that our thoughts are representative of a specific facet of consciousness, and that as we move from one facet to another, our thoughts will change.

This book addresses that problem, for you will learn about each facet of consciousness that we human beings grow into and through as we live our lives. Problems emerge for both the individual and society when we get stuck living in a facet of consciousness beyond its usefulness. You will find practical information about what to do to help yourself when you experience the pain of being stuck.

Regina retired as the Director of the Center of Excellence for the Built Environment and Professor of Sustainable Construction in the College of Engineering at Purdue University, where she received her doctoral degree in philosophy. For someone who wrote a book some years ago titled Sustainable Construction and Design, Regina guesses that it was inevitable that she’d segue from applying consciousness to building structures to doing the same for humans. She currently teaches classes in both consciousness and meditation, the latter of which she’s been personally practicing for over 45 years.
