Please join us and our guest, Shannon Grissom, for a show on Rediscovering Your Playful Energy with the Sock Monkey Oracle. During the show, Shannon will share how the age-old sock monkey became an inspiration of joy and how she helps others rediscover their own playful energy! The sock monkey, a largely popularized vintage icon, has brought joy and love to homes for decades. Dating as far back as the 1930s, sock monkeys became most known for their vibrant red mouth fashioned out of Rockford Red Heel socks—and these unique stuffed toys were gifted to families and children during the Great Depression as notions of hope, happiness, and…hugs!
Today, Shannon continues this long-lived tradition with the Sock Monkey Oracle card deck. An idea sparked by finding her mother’s sock monkey hidden away in a chest, Shannon found comfort and solace in painting sock monkeys doing various fun activities. In this card deck, you’ll find fun images of sock monkeys playing golf, celebrating with balloons, playing the guitar, and even getting a diploma!
Shannon discovered painting at the age of 33, and became hooked and driven, ultimately creating art as a full-time business. At 46, Shannon self-published her children’s book, Monkey Made of Sockies, along with a line of licensed merchandise, including a coloring book and the popular Monkey Made of Sockies golf club headcovers that have been carried on tour by several LPGA pros. Shannon is an award-winning artist, television producer/host, author, and songwriter, and she just launched an online creativity school called Painterly. Learn more at SockMonkeyOracle.com.
