The Pain and the Pleasure Two sides of the same coin Heaven and hell are here now. Someone somewhere is experiencing tremendous pain and suffering. Through war, trafficking, domestic violence or any other of the ways humanity tortures itself. Hell personified. Likewise, babies are being born. First-time parents are holding a miracle in their arms. People are getting back on their feet after perhaps many struggles and challenges. The idea that a single mom, perhaps living out of her car, with her children, finally gets a place of her own. She walks into her new place and closes the door. She has a safe haven for herself and her children perhaps for the first time in a long time. Flavors of heaven. What have you felt? What is the range of emotions you have felt for perhaps the last three months? Have you felt heaven? Have you felt hell? Or…

No one is holding you back It’s all You! As you are the creator of your human experience, you are never stuck. We live in an impersonal arena of creation. Gravity is impersonal. Electricity is impersonal. Karma is impersonal. Emotions are an impersonal mechanism we are all experiencing. The whole arena we are experiencing is an impersonal opportunity for ourselves. The life outside of us is a reflection of our own persona. Period. We decide it all. I think what throws us off, is just how deep our imprinting is. We have accumulated countless belief systems, attitudes, preferences and such over many lifetimes. Since we are born into this life with an established set of karmic stigmas from our past, we don’t ever experience ourselves without those stigmas. Our “normal” day-to-day experience is metaphorically riding on top of our accumulated karmic stigmas from our past. We can go our whole life…

There are no requirements. The choices you make will decide. As you wish. We are creatures of habit. They say it takes 21 days to establish a new habit. I would add to that it might take 21 days to completely release a habit. Recently, I had a complete and total erasure of my habits. All of them. The good ones and the not so good. I really didn’t have a choice. When I spent 7+ weeks flat on my back in a hospital bed, those 21 days of habit forming and habit erasing did its thing well before I had even reached the halfway point. It is a very odd thing. Very strange. I get up in the morning, and there is no semblance of “what to do.” None. Not even a memory. I walk around my house and look at things, perhaps parts of projects I was working…

Are you going to do it? Time waits for no one. Do you have any ideas that seem to keep showing up? Has it been a while? How long does it take for you to take actions on your ideas? Perhaps you have thoughts like … write a book. Go back to school. Take that arts class. Volunteer at the … You get the idea. When I wrote my first book, it took me six years. I get it. I mean, sometimes when we go to start something completely out of our previous wheelhouse, we want to see the whole journey before we take the first step. Because … what if? What if nobody wants to read my book? What if I fail? What if I can’t do it? These are known as risks. There are no guarantees how it will turn out if you sincerely try. But there is…

Les is back … well, almost I have had a life-changing experience It is like I fell into an active volcano, got burnt down to just ashes, and have finally climbed my way back out. Your life can change in an instant. It started one quite normal morning. I was eating breakfast, in a hurry, and just shoved a huge bite into my mouth. What I didn’t know was that an extremely rare event took place in that moment. That huge bite completely shut down my digestive tract in an instant. Like metaphorically taping my mouth shut. No food in at all. If I tried to eat anything, even a tiny pain pill, it would be instantly expelled from my mouth. I had created a complete  blockage by having my ability to take in nutrients completely shut down. This is something I had never heard of before. In an instant, my…

Change Your Karmic Momentum Karma, like gravity, is impersonal The scale that our human persona can be “programmed,” so to speak, is vast and deep. When we take on more and more karma, the probabilities of our future collapse into a much narrower range of possibilities. When I talk about our psyche being “programmed,” it can happen on many different levels. We can program ourselves, and others can program us, if we are not conscious about it. In this blog, I will talk about how we program our own psyches. The elephant in the room, so to speak, at least how it relates to our programming, is our childhood. Look no further than your family of origin to see where the deepest ingrained imprinting has happened in this lifetime of yours. We can easily think that we have grown out of it. That is to say, as adults, we can…

Grow Your Sense of Self We are never completely stuck There are octaves or spectrums of wisdom within you now. Perhaps without end. You always have another moment. Thus, you always have another moment to make a new choice and thus create a new outcome. One of the aspects I have noticed within myself is my soul. Of course my soul has “been here” my whole life. But I, as my ego, didn’t recognize the intelligence or wisdom of my soul until more recently. It is not that I am psychic enough where I “see” my soul and have some kind of mystical interaction with it. But rather, it is that still small voice within me now. Although the still small voice is here if I look/listen for it, the insights it has for me are anything but small. There are no requirements for ourselves. We are given fierce free…

You didn’t do it Wrong Karma takes it upon itself Karma, by its very nature, removes you from your “truth” or “power.” In other words, as you “take on” more and more karma, you are separating from your own power. We can think of karma as a method or mechanism that humans have that loads up our psyche with an illusion of sorts. Not only does karma collapse our choices of each moment, but it can also get us to prefer a particular way of living, even though that “particular way” of living doesn’t support us. What I mean by that is as we take on more karma, we are loading up our psyche with feelings and memories that can be very challenging for us. We can have a preference for avoiding our karma. A common example of this is addictions. Addictions come in many flavors. People can become addicted…

The Villain is also the Teacher You can’t get triggered if … So, who in your life is “giving” you the most grief? Who can get under your skin, so to speak? Push your buttons. Yank your chain. Trip your triggers. Those people are a gift to you. There is a most curious thing about karma … regardless if the student is ready, the teacher will arrive. lol  A play on the saying “when the student is ready, the teacher will arrive.” Karma has an elegance to it. It is a perfect law that the universe abides by. We attract to ourselves our (karmic) teachers. And often, at least early in our spiritual journey, those teachers are also our villains. But I didn’t ask for that a**hole in my life. Well, actually you did. My enemy is my greatest teacher. ~ Dalai Lama Those who can push your buttons are giving you…

Getting off the Emotional Rollercoaster Our Emotions connect us to the Collective Story … until it doesn’t Emotions, as a mechanism or part of being human, are impersonal. But I know it doesn’t always seem that way. But there is an element to our own personal experience of emotions that we do have control over. Not control, in that we suppress our emotions. Not that we “control” our emotions by suppressing them. But rather, we can heal our relationship with our own emotions and set ourselves free of wrestling with them. The emotions themselves are indifferent to how we experience them. You could think of your emotions as a personal report card of sorts. For some of us, we can have a rather constant relationship with particular emotions. For example, we might have a pattern or habit of dreading talking about money, sex or responsibilities with our partner. Where we…

Nobody but You It is all created by You There is a choice that we can make, but for so many, that choice isn’t “available.” For so many people, they tend to live much of their life in a perpetual state of re-acting. Instead of constantly re-acting in the very same way over and over, we can make a new choice and thus a new outcome. But only if we are aware that the choice exists. Reactive patterns tend to base themselves on our emotions. And yet, it is not the emotions themselves that “cause” the re-action. It is the mind. It is a kind of patterning that is often “programmed” into us by our family of origin. In other words, when we are literally creating our ego, growing up as a child, there would be common emotions that perhaps the whole family would posture with. And as a child,…
